To receive and hold Norwegian shares you either need to have a VPS-account or a custodian that can hold on to Norwegian shares on your behalf.
If you have previously set up a VPS-account, you should be able to find your VPS-number in your online banking/brokerage service, or through Euronext Securities. If you cannot locate the VPS-number, try contacting your VPS-account provider and ask them for your VPS-number.
If you have not previously set up a VPS-account, you need to set up an account with a provider. Nordnet is a provider that lets you set up such an account easily if you are a Norwegian citizen.
For citizens of other countries, it is not possible to create VPS-accounts, and you need to receive and hold shares through a custodian. If this applies to you, we recommend setting up an account with Saxo Bank, which will be able to hold Norwegian shares on your behalf.
